CNN cameraman Margaret Mott captures images of war zones without fear. Sundance premiere with Christian Amanpour, directed by Lucy Lawless. I saw this at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. Never Look Away is an interesting documentary about photojournalist Margaret Mott, and is presented with insightful discussions, good acting, and a strong sense of direction and tone. Documentaries about photography and war are not new in that the structure of the documentary is nothing spectacular or amazing, but the core of its emotional message, the direction and style of the documentary still keep the investment strong and many of the conversations and well researched concepts. Mott is an interesting person and the documentary does a good job of telling who she is, her influence on her work and what makes her special. Although there is some funny use of music and some of the editing options are a bit confusing, overall I found myself enjoying it.
